PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION PRIOR TO SUBMITTING APPLICATION
Scholarships are awarded for the academic year following the application deadline beginning with the fall semester. All applicants must be high school seniors about to enter full time, or undergraduate students currently enrolled full time, in a pre-engineering, engineering, or engineering technology program leading to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a course of study that traditionally has been a preparatory curriculum for the HVAC&R profession.
All applicants (including re-applications from former scholarship applicants and recipients) must meet current scholarship criteria (listed below):
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest and/or a class standing of no less than the top 30% evidenced by an official transcript of grades or written statement from a school administrator.
  • Three letters of recommendation including one of each from:
    1. An instructor or faculty advisor
    2. A current or past employer
    3. A character reference
In the case of schools with an ASHRAE student branch, a letter from the faculty advisor of that branch may be one of the three letters of recommendation.
Visit  ashrae.org/communities/student-zone/student-branches for a list of ASHRAE student branches.
  • Potential service to the HVAC and/or refrigeration profession.
  • Financial need.
  • Excellence, Character, and Leadership qualities.

GPA and Transcript Conversion
Only for students not on a 4.0 grading scale.

In addition to submitting official transcripts, if any of your transcripts use grading scales that are different from the U.S. 4.0 grading scales, you must complete a GPA Conversion using the Scholaro link below:
https://www.scholaro.com/apply/ashrae

If you are submitting both high school and college level transcripts, please complete a separate conversion for each transcript. This can be completed after submitting this scholarship application but must be received by ASHRAE before the scholarship deadline.

In submitting the GPA conversion report, you are responsible for verifying and ensuring the accuracy of all information entered. Any discrepancies that are found between the official transcript and GPA conversion report will be considered grounds for disqualification from the ASHRAE Scholarship Program. If you discover an error, you must immediately contact Savanna Smith (ssmith@ashrae.org) and report the error.
